Everyone is a messenger. Be it through books, paintings, sermons, etc in some way we let people know what we believe and how we feel.
Gypsy Soul celebrates messengers of the arts...singers, rappers, photographers and the like.
Daria Johnson, one of the official photogs of Gypsy Soul, has a unique ability to liberate the meaning of a moment by capturing it. The Soulcialista revers Daria's work with a series called "Shoot The Messenger".
As we continue to post her work of art we honor those who are powerful, positive, thoughtful messengers in our culture.
The 1st herald in our series is Talib Kweli.
I personally enjoyed his music, but after I listened to an album in my college dorm and heard him say "These cats drink champagne and toast to death and pain Like slaves on a ship talking about who got the flyest chain" in the song Africa Dream, I appreciated his music.
Thank you to Talib for his awesome lyrics and humble attitude that comes across mediums like Twitter and ultimately the stage. Thank you to DJ P Funk & Sonar for allowing the journalists and photogs in our circuit to cover their events....enjoy
