::RECAP:: Project Hygiene Concert

This past Sunday, we had an amazing opportunity to support Project Hygiene, an initiative started by Anshia Tull, CEO and founder of Briclyn Entertainment Group, LLC.
Project Hygiene was started in 2011 as a means to promote health and wellness among underprivileged adolescents and teens. In addition, Project Hygiene is dedicated to denouncing bullying, which has become a serious epidemic over the past few years.
Sunday's concert at the historic Howard Theatre in Washington, DC served as a product drive and fundraiser to help various non profit organization to continue to make a difference in their respective communities. For this concert, Briclyn Entertainment brought together a very eclectic group of performers! Holly Would, Marlee In The Mixx, Ben O'Neill, Aaron Camper and Honor Society each brought wonderful energy and stellar stage presence, making this a very cool fundraiser.
Holly Would, a band from Newport News, VA, seamlessly fused elements of Hip Hop, Pop and Rock. Their in your face, straight forward style showed that this band is not afraid to take chances and willing to change the landscape of what we all think rock is.
Marlee In The Mixx is an up and coming progressive band from Washington, DC. Formed in early 2011, the collective perfectly displayed their roots in Gospel, Neo-Soul, Hip Hop, R&B and Jazz. It was really encouraging to watch this group perform. There is often a general consensus that today's batch of young artists aren't interested in creating good, solid music. However, Marlee In The Mixx made a very strong counterargument to that thought process. As this young group continues to grow and perform together, they will learn to gel more and could quickly become your new favorite band.
After years of performing with some of the best known names in Pop, Gospel and R&B, Ben O'Neill is now beginning his journey as a solo artist. The Philadelphia singer/songwriter-guitarist gave a wonderful performance at the Project Hygiene concert. His honest, heart felt lyrics provided the perfect balance to some of the more heavy rockers of the evening.
Taking time out from touring with Justin Timberlake, Aaron Camper held is own as he electrified the crowd with his incredible vocal ability. Aaron is a great example of an artist who is working very hard to bring the art back to R&B. Aaron's lyrics came to life as he was backed by an unbelievable group of musicians. Aaron is a superb talent who has all the tools needed for a very successful solo career.
Honor Society was the clear crowd favorite of the evening. Watching them as they successfully blended thoughtful, savvy lyrics with a modern pop sound, it was very easy to see why they were the crowd favorite. "We don't play shows, we throw parties" is a quote found on their Facebook page and it is definitely not a misquote.
Giving back is very essential to our human experience. However, with the drive to create the next big thing and make lots of money, charity often gets very lost in the mix. Through their Project Hygiene initiative, Briclyn Entertainment is showing that it is possible to be a successful business and make meaningful charitable contributions.
