So everybody knows that February is Black History Month, a month when the nation recognizes African Americans for their struggles and achievements. PJ Morton and his band returned to Baltimore to help Baltimoreans celebrate , reminding everyone why we have a whole month (the shortest month, nevertheless, a whole month). PJ brought back the gospel, and funk that Black people are known for.
February 27, 2009 at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum, G. L. Entertainment hosted the Winter Music and Art Festival in conjunction with 100 Black Men of Maryland & Gypsy Soul. Baltimoreans of all ages came out to celebrate with PJ Morton. There was a mix of dim lights, yummy finger food, cold beverages of all kinds, and soulful sounds that filled the upper level.
Fashion was in full swing. The stilettos made their own music, fresh hair do's turned heads, and aromas urged you to follow, this was a tasteful recipe for that neo-soul vibe. Blackness at its best.
PJ is currently on tour promoting his new album, PJ Morton Live from LA.
PJ started the show with slow melodic melodies that the audience knew from previous albums, many of the olderattendees had never heard of him but were guaranteed to remember him. The entire show was upbeat with live music and PJ's soulful notes that hypnotized the audience. The lyrics were heartfelt and thoughtful. Men/women, old/young, and in between rocked out.
With the help of his band and harmonizing back ground vocalists he ended the night and Black History Month with a bang!
