As many of you know, here at Gypsy Soul, we love to turn our readers on to refreshing, new artists. So allow us to RE-introduce you to Cris Cab- the 18-year old Miami native that has taken the music world by storm with the release of his new mixtape and second project Echo Boom [DOWNLOAD FREE HERE] Early last year, Gypsy Soul had a the pleasure of introducing him to Baltimore and did a couple of media interactions with him.

Far ahead of his time, sonically, Cab redefines the boundaries of pop music, with his Caribbean flare and profound songwriting. It doesn't hurt that he has received hefty co-signs from industry greats like Pharrell Williams and Wyclef Jean. In fact, Cab's music is the perfect blend of Wyclef's vibrant storytelling, and John Mayer's earthy soulfulness, which is sure to cross demographics and musical genres alike.

The lead single off the mixtape, presented by Pharrell's Billionaire Boys Club, is "In My Dreams;" a lofty acoustic track about the bittersweet comfortability found in dreams, versus the real world. It's beautiful, inspirational and relatable-which appears to be a common thread in all of Cab's work. The mixtape's title track (and rumored next single), "Echo Boom," is equal parts funk, soul and pop, with Pharrell's signature stoic lyricism, stamping his co-sign- "He got my DNA though its my first time seeing him. 'Welcome to I am other,' that's how I greeted him. The new breed, like colorful new weed. We planted them seeds, now we got them new leaves."

New sensation Cris Cab cruised through Charm City to promote his new EP Foreward.

Gypsy Soul with help from The FARM Team set a small get together at one of our favorite eateries, Teavolve which played his music loud and proud over the sound system. Cris met up with media, talked to a few fans and headed to Bourbon Street to play his heart out to a ton of college students.



Cris Cab is a sweetie pie with a great offering of music and we look forward to what the next weeks, months and years bring to his career!

I recently had the opportunity to speak with Cris Cab, Pharell's hot new artist. You might be thinking that he is the next new skater boy rap artist but you could not be more wrong. Actually, Cris Cab is an 18 year old soul singer who hails from Miami, FL. Check out what he has to say below:

How long have you been working on your EP and how does is it feel to be finished?

"It feels great! I've been working on it for 7 months and it's my 1^st body of work".

How would you classify your music?

"A lil bit of everything - reggae, hip hop, neo soul".

What’s your favorite song on the EP? Why?

"My favorite song would have to be "Life Goes On" It has simple song instrumentation and a strong message. It has a lot to do with an experience with my cousin who traveled and came back".

Are you excited about performing in the DMV?

"Hell yeah. Honestly, I thought the DMV

was like motor vehicle.…had no clue what it was. I don't have a lot of fans there so I'm interested in performing in new markets and developing a fan base.

Do you have a girlfriend?

"I did but not now. Don’t have a lot of time...we recently broke up because of it. It was a mutual break up and we decided to move on. We're still friends though".
