Celebrate Mothers Day with Kindred The Family Soul
presented by Douglas Spencer & Tonesetters
This event is a special token of appreciation to honor women and those with special women in their lives.
KINDRED the Family Soul aka the new Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee are back on MAY 9 with their first live concert at the The Shakespeare Theatre Company and the Harman Center for the Arts in downtown Washington, DC. The act, holiday and venue are a great union for the Mother’s Appreciation Event.
KINDRED’s mission is to celebrate love, family, and endurance that keep us all moving through the world. To date, they produced three records: Surrender the Love, In this Life Together, & The Arrival. Yet, the real love story is they produced six lovely children (who are they). Their latest project is a reality series called “Six is It”, a real look into Kindred’s life over the past few months leading up to the birth of their sixth and final child (according to them). Feedback from the first webisode, question why there isn’t more of this kind of quality material on TV stations like BET, TV1 or VH1. They are also launching the new video “Just the Way You Are”
There will be live jazz performances by Brian O'Neal of Kem's band and 76 Degrees West, a Jazz/Funk band that has been lighting up stages across the U.S. since 2001. Their remake of The Average White Band's "School Boy Crush" combines instrumental jazz with go-go, creating classic D.C. magic, and Kendrick the Family Soul will perform classical soul music. Kendrick songs are based on a positive message, which spread light into everyone.
