Ab Rock
This Ear Candy with the Coors Light Music Lounge was certainly not one to miss!
The evening started out with Baltimore hip hop artist Ab Rock accompanied a group of young men who fused neo soul with hip hop bringing a treat to all who listened. The lead mic was comparable to Talib Kweli in regards to sound and subject but certainly had his own identity. Also a standout in the crew was Chuck the Mad Ox, a local beat boxer who, with his unique sound, helped each artist to convey their music to the crowd.

Chinah Blac’s energy was amazing. The way she interacted with the crowd was awesome. She made the crowd laugh in agreement with lyrics of her songs. One line in particular that had the crowds head noddin was the hook “I never should have fucked with you,” a song about thinking your in love till that significant other shows who they really are and you realize that you should have never kicked it with that person. Her last song was "My Funny Valentine" which really showed her depth as an artist and how strong and beautiful her voice is. What really made this song a treat at Ear Candy was the addition of Chuck the Mad Ox! Chinah asked him to help her and by adding him the song took on a funky, yet sweet complexity.

Last but not least was Tamika Jones who voice is of an angel. The way she sang made you feel as if you were church and the levels of her voice were as if she envoked a choir that began singing about your pain and struggle. She had a beautiful duet with her back up singer, RayShun. He was a wonderful performer in his own right and brought a male match to her female fierceness.
I greatly enjoyed the show and if you weren’t their you missed an experience. In these times of a recession the price for a lifetime experience that Ear Candy provides is certainly pocket friendly. Next time you’re in Baltimore do yourself a favor, give your ears a treat and have some ear candy.
