The newest edition to The Foreign Exchange Music label is Zo! who dropped his debut release in July of this year. Recently he opened for N'Dambi and after the show our correspondent Shani Elliot was granted a few moments of his time. Check out the interview:
Shani: We’re here in D.C. with Zo!, promoting his new cd, SunStorm. How are you Zo?
Zo!: I’m doing alright, kind of tired but I am good.
Shani: Speaking of good, the show was more than good. It was awesome.
Zo!: Oh, thank you. Thank you very much. I am glad you enjoyed it.
Shani: So, that was the “SunStorm All-stars”?
Zo!: SunStorm All-stars, folks who play music, cats on the drums, bass, keys, and guitar, whatever you want to call it. We don’t even have a name, we just play.
Shani: So, tell us about the project.
Zo!: Brand new, SunStorm is my latest joint. It was released in July and is doing very well. It’s my baby, so it’s very personal, very close to me. I am getting very positive response from it and just look forward to where it’s going to take me next.
Shani: For those who are not familiar with the project, tell us a little bit about it. Who is on the project with you? I know that you are the man behind the scenes, putting it all together, pulling the players together. Who do you have helping you on the project?
Zo!: There are eleven guest appearances. First and foremost is Phonte’ from Foreign Exchange and Little Brother, Chantae Cann, Monica Blaire, Eric Roberson, Darien Brockington, my sister, YahZarah, Carlitta Durand, we have Sy Smith, we had rapper, Big Pooh, and Lady Alma. It’s basically my favorite singers and songwriters in the business right now. Jesse Boykins III is on it. All these different cats, these talented people with big voices, came together to work on my project. I’m just blessed to have them, work with them and have them pull out creativity from me that hasn’t been pulled out before.
Shani: You say that it hasn’t been pulled out before. I have a copy of Just Visiting Too.Zo!: That was actually being worked on at the same time as SunStorm. I’m always juggling a couple different projects here and there. I don’t do mixtapes, but being that was a free download, that was like my mixtape. It was an EP, but the response from that got everyone warmed up for SunStorm. It all came together perfectly.
Shani: How can someone get a copy of SunStorm?
Zo!: You can look it up at www.theforeignexchangemusic.com, Amazon, Itunes, most of the places where you can download music.
Shani: How can fans reach out to you? Are you on Facebook or Twitter?
Zo!: Yes, I am on Facebook. I have a Facebook Fan page and I have a twitter page at @Zo3hree5ive.
