Ear Candy featuring David James and Green Tea

Thursday, May 7, 2009

It has been rainy and dreary A L L week in Baltimore, but that didn't stop David James and Green Tea from having one of the best performances at Ear Candy on Tuesday night!

David James started the night off with an acoustic performance featuring songs off of his cd - Time & Chance - this is another definite must have!

His voice is reminiscent of John Legend - soothing in all the right places. The kind of voice thatmakes you want to sink into the couch, fold your arms, close your eyes and just float away...

No, seriously, the audience was doing just that!

Most everyone just sat back to take in the sound of his voice and the strum of his guitar - s0 much that they weren't very engaging with the artist!

David would try to say something to the crowd, to boost the energy, and get the participation up, but for they just seemed stuck ... sedated maybe? With the lights dim, acoustic music, and the soft "pitter-patter" of rain outside against the windows...yeah..its easy to see how anyone could lost in the moment.

My favorite song on the night by David James - Consistent - Track 1 off his album. He kept singing it during his mic check and when he finally sang it during his performance - pure love! Unfortunately, my camera died mid-performance so I can't share with you the awesomeness that is that song but check him out on myspace - www.myspace.com/ndelible or his personal page www.myspace.com/youngbeloved

Green Tea performed after David James and no one could deny the energy she brought! Where as David's performance was more relaxed and chill where the audience could nod their head along, Green Tea forced everyone to sit and up and really groove!

My favorite song on the night by her was Soul Connection - a song about wanting more than just that "friendly" relationship but something with more substance.

Green Tea was definitely for the ladies last night but the men seemed to take her in as well as her song as they were motivating and moving. Green Tea herself was a ball of energy as she didn't let her small performance space keep her moving about and putting on a great show!

If you missed out on Tuesday's Ear Candy, you missed out on a GREAT performance! But don't cry because you know we have more coming!!

Next Ear Candy - May 26th with Peter Hadar at Teavolve! Be there!
