Being that I love hearing live bands perform I was very interested in seeing Snarky Puppy perform live at 8x10. The first song I was able to catch was "Thing of Gold" off of their live DVD groundUP and I was immediately drawn to their sound.
When I arrived at 8x10 I was amazed at the stage set up, especially the keys used as an instrument. Once the band arrived on stage, they announced that their label mates, Hildegunn Gjedren, would be performing with them. Hildegunn sang her own rendition of songs like "Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen and an original song of her own titled "Warrior Song". The crowd loved her voice and they way it blended so well with the band.
At the end of the opening set the crowd wad hyped to see what more they had in store. They played songs like "Pinky", a dub step remix
(that didn't sound like dubstep), and new songs from their upcoming
project title TBD. I really enjoyed the entire band, each musician
brought their own style and art that formed a collective of
amazingness (yeah, amazingness lol).
By the end of the night I became an official fan of Hildegunn Gjedren and Snarky Puppy.
