::Eat It:: Premier CRU

We’re a versatile group here at Gypsy Soul. Not only are we dedicated to giving you the scoop on great artists, we’ve got the scoop on other up-and-coming events in and around the Bmore/ DC scene, and Premier Cru’s got next. So, when the opportunity presented itself to attend their launch party, we couldn’t resist!

Premier CRU is a brand new collective bringing you the best in entertainment, and catering services. For their debut, they held an intimate business-networking mixer at Diamondz Event Center, hosted by Konan and DJ Mike Crosby of 92Q Jams. Not bad for an opening, right?

The menu was full of delicious sounding dishes, which made it difficult to narrow down…so I didn’t. I tried it ALL..and it was scrumptious. Crab cakes, meatballs, spinach quiche, and basically anything else you can imagine was offered. Honestly, they had me at buffet.

My picks: chicken kabob, crab cakes and shrimp quiche. I'm not selective when it comes to a chicken dish. It's one of those things that is really hard to mess up, unless you are a total amateur, so I had no complaints with the kabob. I'm also picking the quiche because usually quiche isn't my thing (I've had some stomach turning quiche in my day), but when seafood is involved, I dive in. Alas, I enjoyed it. It was light and fluffy, but could have used a bit more crust. The crab cakes were the perfect bite, with the perfect amount of lump crab.

While everyone was filling their bellies, guests could mingle, get a drink at the cash bar-stocked with top-shelf liquor, hand out business cards, and enter their fabulous prize giveaway (flat screen or iPod). Since the cash bar was slightly overpriced for my budget, I gravitated towards the free wine tasting sponsored by DiWine Spirits Wine Shoppe. He had a fabulous selection, and I found a new favorite: Bartenura Red Malvasia from Italy.
