Someone please grant me a late pass on this.
I admit-- I hadn’t heard much about
Phil Adé until I was given the opportunity to interview him.
Naturally, I did my research and imagine my excitement when I found out he is a fellow Nigerian AND a dope MC. The Maryland artist was discovered by benefactor and DMV artist Raheem Devaughn, and is now signed to his independent label, 368 Music Group. Long story short, the DMV is making moves.

It’s only natural to want to associate the undefined with something familiar, so right now, we are all probably thinking—Nigerian--DMV--Walé. But I can personally say that if you are looking for an association, melodically, think—Tribe or Little Brother. He's bringing back that feel good hip hip of the early 90's that we are all nostalgic for.
Adé made his mark on the scene in 2009 with his mixtape Starting on JV and critically acclaimed The Letterman which featured: Raekwon, Raheem Devaughn, and Tabi Bonney.

I caught up with Mr. Adé behind the scenes of Greenspan’s new video “Catch Up”. He dished on his experience growing up as a Nigerian-American, linking up with Raheem, the concepts behind Starting on JV and The Letterman; as well as his know-how with being an independent artist in today’s market.
